A Syracuse teen headed to Alfred University this fall was interviewed on national television with President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, about his participation in a high school program that helps prepare students for careers in manufacturing and engineering.Robert Felder, 18, and Ivanka Trump were interviewed Thursday (July 19) by Joe Kernan of CNBC’s cable news television program “Squawk Box.” Felder is a graduate of the Syracuse Institute of Technology at Central High School, where he participated in P-Tech, a program that helps students go straight into the workforce or earn credits toward college.

Ivanka Trump invited Felder to the White House as part of President Trump’s initiative to improve job-training programs that prepare students for careers in manufacturing and engineering. The President this week signed an executive order promoting and supporting vocational education programs.
Felder, who was recruited to Alfred University to play football, will major in mechanical engineering. He earned 28 credits toward college while participating in the P-Tech program in high school.
