Wellsville man receives probation on heroin-related charge

A Wellsville man avoided prison after he pleaded guilty to a reduced drug charge. In Allegany County court Friday, Joey Traylor, 24, of Pine Street pleaded guilty to attempted 3rd degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Judge Terry Parker sentenced him to five years probation, a $325 surcharge, restitution of $27.50 and a $50 DNA fee. Prosecutors said Traylor was originally accused of selling heroin to an agent of the Wellsville Police Department on April 11, 2016. Defense attorney Fern Adelstein was able to get the charge reduced. Mike Finn prosecuted the case.
