Obituary: Loretta A. Lewis, 93, Whitesville

WHITESVILLE — Loretta A. Lewis, 93, of 673 Main St., passed away in her home on Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2017) following a long illness. She was born in the Town of Willing, on Jan. 26, 1924, the daughter of Wilbur and Grace Marshall Hunt. On June 14, 1947, in Whitesville, she was married to Dorr F. Lewis, who predeceased her. She was a graduate of Wellsville High School, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a former member of the Whitesville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed time spent with her family and many friends. She also enjoyed babysitting, quilting and embroidering. She is survived by a daughter, Diane Osgood, Wellsville; three sons, Darryl (Punkie) Lewis, Dean (Maureen) Lewis and Duane Lewis, all of Whitesville; five grandchildren, Monica Acomb, Jaime Lewis, Kevin Osgood, Kris Osgood and Chris Ordway; 10 greatgrandchildren; a brother, Lester Hunt, Wellsville; a sister, Laura Harder, Wellsville; a sister-in-law, Margert Hunt, Wellsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 9, 2017) at the MulhollandCrowell Funeral Home in Wellsville, when services will be held. Pastor Trevor Price of the West Union Mennonite Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Whitesville Rural Cemetery. Memorials to the SPCA Serving Allegany County, PO Box 381, Wellsville, NY 14895; Independence Emergency Squad, 508 Main St., Whitesville, NY 14897; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
