Wellsville photo's: Cleanup after 60 ton bridge beam crashes in Wellsville
State Route 417, Bolivar Road, near Field Street in Wellsville was closed for about six hours Thursday after a 60 +/- ton concrete bridge beam fell off a big rig truck. The beam, headed for a project in Pennsylvania, impacted a utility pole. There were no injuries. Responding to the scene were State Police, utility crews, NYS DOT, Wellsville Fire and Fire Police. Troopers called it "an accident" and said there will be no charges filed against the older driver. The State Police Commercial Division also responded and found no infractions. The incident impaired traffic along the busy Bolivar Road for hours, including lunch time traffic along the fast food strip. Here are some post-crash clean up photo's:
