Obituary: Richard J. Allen, 92, Belmont
Belmont - Richard J. Allen, age 92, of Greenwich Street passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born on January 31, 1925 in Buffalo to William D. and Marguerite Denison Allen. On June 21, 1947 he married Marie Doner who predeceased him in 1977. Richard was a long time resident of Belmont who graduated from Whitesville Central High School. He was a truck driver for the former Scoville Brown Company and retired from Genesee Valley Nursery of Belmont. Richard, who had a good sense of humor, grew up on a farm in Whitesville and enjoyed telling stories of the old days. He stayed close to home, working on his garden and mowing his lawn. Richard enjoyed hunting and was an active Social Member of the American Legion Post #808 of Belmont. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Baker of Belmont, a granddaughter, Michelle [David] Francisco of Belmont; a grandson, Kevin Baker of Belmont; several great grandchildren;2 brothers, William [Shirley] Allen of Whitesville and Ronald [Carol] Allen of Wellsville; 3 sisters, Arlouine Seeley of Belmont, Phyllis [Bruce] Greene of Portville and Sandra [James] Fitzpatrick of Whitesville; several nieces and nephews.Richard was predeceased by his wife Marie; a sister, Rachel Lewis and a son in law Willis Baker. There will be no prior visitation and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1 p. .in Forest Hills Cemetery of Belmont.
