Richardson receives PEF endorsement for Allegany County Legislature

Press Release: 

The 650 members of Region 2, NYS Public Employees Federation AFL-CIO officially endorse the candidacy of Gail Richardson of Angelica for the Allegany County Board of Legislators, District 1 (Angelica, Belfast, Caneadea, Centerville, Hume, Granger, and Rushford.)

The Public Employees Federation represents members of the Professional, Scientific, and Technical unit of New York State in job titles including nurses, accountants, engineers and many more.

Richardson grew up in Fillmore, graduated from Fillmore Central, earned degrees at Cornell, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and the University of Wisconsin. During her 35-year career in the nonprofit sector she has supported innovative projects by farmers, teachers, and waste recyclers.

Citing her extensive background in non-profit leadership, her commitment to community volunteerism, and her positions on healthcare, the environment, and job creation via the expanded use of technology, PEF believes Richardson to be the right choice and the only choice to represent the working families in Allegany County District 1.

This announcement comes on the heels of an endorsement by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, who states, "I am proud to endorse Gail Richardson, candidate for Allegany County's 1st Legislative District. Richardson combines impressive credentials and practical know-how with a deep understanding of and commitment to the people she would represent."

Richardson, whose name will appear on both the Democratic and Richardson for Legislator lines on the November 7th ballot, is also endorsed by the Allegany County Democratic Committee. 

“As a fifth-generation native of Allegany County, I am committed to the faithful representation of the interests of residents in District 1 towns and the county as a whole,” says Richardson.

“Over the course of my campaign, I’ve spoken with hundreds of individuals.  Everyone I've asked so far has questions about what they get for their tax dollars.

“Allegany County is on track to spend about $117 million this year. How do these expenditures help working families and strengthen communities? Where can we do better?

“If elected, I will open doors for more citizens to weigh in on decisions that affect their well-being.”

The general election takes place on Tuesday, November 7th from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at polling places across the county.  Please contact the Allegany County Board of Elections to find your polling place.
