“I am shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Paula Stockman, the dedicated leader of the Cattaraugus County Legislature and a friend to all in our community. Paula’s devotion to public service helped write the story of her life and gave us all the opportunity to benefit from the leadership, wisdom and commitment of an individual who understood both the strengths and challenges of our area and who wanted to play a role in building its future. 
She was unique in the very best way - a no-nonsense, straight shooter who was always direct and expected the same from you. At the same time, she was an extremely nice person who cared deeply about the people she served and this region, which she loved. I always enjoyed working with her, as did all her many colleagues in government. While she will be greatly missed, she leaves behind a great legacy of leadership. Her family is in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”
