Murray, Elliott |
According to an investigation by the New York State Police, on October 27, 2017, Gregory N. Dunne, 18, of Andover died after ingesting heroin in a vehicle. Other occupants of the car were Robert J. Murray Jr., 19 of Wellsville, NY, Andrew Elliott, 19 of Andover, NY and a 17-year-old Wellsville youth. According to the Allegany County District Attorney’s Office, the men traveled from Andover to Rochester to purchase heroin. In a press release issued today, District Attorney Keith Slep said Dunne passed out in Rochester and appeared to be dying over a period of time. The release said “both passengers and the driver recognized signs that their friend was dying, but did nothing to help him or get medical attention for him.” Dunne’s heart stopped and he stopped breathing while they were driving on Route 21 in the Village of Almond. Murray, the driver, then took back roads to drop off the other two passengers in Andover before taking Dunne to Jones Memorial Hospital. Slep said Murray provided false information to the hospital and police about his friend's death. Dunne was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. On March 27th, Elliott entered a guilty plea in Allegany County Court to Criminally Negligent Homicide in the death Dunne. He will be sentenced on May 16th. Also on March 27th, the unnamed 17-year-old entered a guilty plea in Allegany County Court to Criminally Negligent Homicide. He will be sentenced on May 16th. At that time, he’ll be sentenced as a youthful offender, but now faces new heroin charges from Wellsville police. Slep said today, an Allegany County Grand .Jury returned an indictment against the driver, Robert J Murray for Criminally Negligent Homicide. He will be arraigned in Allegany County Court at a later date.
