IRS scam continues in Allegany County

The Allegany County Sheriff's Office has received several calls about an IRS Scam. Local residents report they have received phone messages stating that there is an warrant for the recipient’s arrest and for their identity. The call back number is 202-869-0304. Undersheriff Kevin Monroe said today to ignore any phone calls from this number.  With the tax deadline of tomorrow, the scammers are trying their best to victimize the public. The public should be reminded that the Internal Revenue Service will only contact you through the United States Postal Service.
