Obituary: Wanda Makowski, 93, Fillmore

Fillmore - Wanda Makowski of 7509 Higgins Creek Road, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in the Absolut at Houghton Nursing Home. She was born on August 3, 1924 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Frank and Aniela Dziedzic Adamowicz. On October 24, 1942 in Arcade she married Thaddeus “Ted” A. Makowski who predeceased her on January 22, 2014.Wanda worked on the farm and later sold Real Estate with her husband of 71 years in the area.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and reading.  Surviving are her children, James (Linda) Makowski of Fillmore, Barbara (LaRue) Austin of Houghton, Carol Bliss of Houghton, David (Kris) Makowski of Hot Sulfur Springs, CO, Michael (Nancy) Makowski of Fillmore, 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Virginia Makowski of Woodburn, OR, Alice Jenkins of Alta Monte Springs, FL and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by five brothers and a son-in-law, Brian Bliss.

Family and friends may gather from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Fillmore. Fr. Dennis J.J. Mancuso will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fillmore.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Wide Awake Club Library.
