INTERSTATE 390/MOUNT MORRIS: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Hunt, NY woman on drug related charges after a traffic complaint on Interstate 390. On June 6, 2018 at approximately 4:25 p.m. the Livingston County Emergency Communications Center (E-911) received a call for a vehicle driving erratically on Interstate 390.
INTERSTATE 390/MOUNT MORRIS: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Hunt, NY woman on drug related charges after a traffic complaint on Interstate 390. On June 6, 2018 at approximately 4:25 p.m. the Livingston County Emergency Communications Center (E-911) received a call for a vehicle driving erratically on Interstate 390.
The vehicle in question was located by Deputy Connor Sanford of the Sheriff’s STOP DWI Unit after it exited off of the Interstate and was located in Mount Morris. The Deputy Sheriff also witnessed the erratic operation and stopped the vehicle on Sand Hill Road in the Town of Mount Morris. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Grace L. Hicks. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that Hicks was under the influence of drugs and conducted a roadside DWAI Drug investigation which included standardized field sobriety tests.
Hicks was subsequently taken into custody for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. The investigation also revealed that Hicks was in possession of a syringe, a quantity of marijuana, and numerous prescription medications that belonged to her. Hicks was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Hicks was transported to the Sheriff's Office Headquarters in Geneseo where Sergeant James Merrick, who is a Certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), conducted an evaluation. It was the Sergeant’s expert opinion that Hicks was under the influence of a central nervous system depressant and could not operate a vehicle safely. Hicks was then turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and will appear in court at a later date.
