The headlines of late have suggested that the Siemen's/Dresser-Rand facility in Wellsville will disappear. Congressman Tom Reed said today that the news isn't entirely true. While Rep. Reed and others have worked to keep the manufacturing portion of the division alive, other 'white collar' worker will still remain. Wellsville Regional News has spoken with plenty of "non-union workers" who say they've been told their jobs will remain even if the manufacturing side disappears. Congressman Tom Reed confirmed that today during his weekly media call. Reed said "Siemen's is keeping...a group of engineering, white ollar...professionals...administrative-type employee's in that location in Wellsville. Rees said he has spoken with the (head of Siemen's) directly and that (Wellsville) would be a Center of Excellence (correctly stated a Product Competency Center). Reed said "I believe...those folks that provide across all services of all spectrum's of the Siemen's family that jobs"...jobs of 70-100 would be retained. "That is a positive," Reed said.Non-stop media reports that Dresser-Rand/Siemnem's will dump Wellsville is a slight misstatement. In addition to Siemen's, the purchasing company, Curtiss Wright, is also projects to retain some "white collar" employee's for its operation in Wellsville.
