State Police release autopsy results on Trooper Nicholas Clark and suspect Steven Kiley
PRESS RELEASEOn July 2, 2018 Trooper Nicholas F. Clark was shot and killed by Steven M. Kiley after responding to 10041 Welch Road in the Town of Erwin, Steuben County. On July 2, 2018, an autopsy was conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton and determined that Trooper Clark died as a result of being struck with buckshot from a 12-gauge shotgun.
On July 3, 2018, an autopsy of Steven Kiley was conducted at Lourdes Hospital and determined that he died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He also sustained a gunshot wound from law enforcement to his chest, which would have been fatal had he not taken his own life.
During the investigation, State Police recovered 12 illegal firearms owned by Kiley, including eight assault rifles, 1 rifle and three handguns. Two silencers and numerous high capacity magazines were also recovered.
Funeral Services for Trooper Nicholas Clark will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Alfred University. The Investigation into Trooper Clark’s death is continuing.
