Wayland: State police make burglary arrest after a one year investigation
A year-long investigation by the New York State Police from the Wayland barracks has resulted in a felony burglary charge against a Mt. Morris man. On June 3, 2017, Wayland troopers responded to a burglary report on Roberts Road Extension, in the town of Wayland. Responding troopers, including a N.Y.S.P. Crime Scene Technician, processed the scene and secured DNA evidence. Investigator Mark J. Villone said subsequent analysis by the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit Crime Lab resulted in a DNA “match”, when compared to a DNA sample on file. Troopers then arrested Michael S. Yamonaco, age 45, of 6456 Sonyea Road in Mt. Morris, N.Y., who was recently paroled from the Mid-State Correctional facility, in the town of Marcy, which stemmed from a previous burglary arrest. Yamonaco was charged with one count of burglary 3rd degree, a class “D” felony, and was arraigned in the town of Wayland Court before Town Justice Thomas Recktenwald. Yamonaco was remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail and ordered to re-appear in the town of Wayland court on July 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
