Portions of Steuben County remain under a State of Emergency

BATH – A state of emergency remains in effect in the Town of Lindley while other roads in Steuben County near the Pennsylvania border remained closed as of 3 p.m. Saturday, according to county Officer of Emergency Services Director Tim Marshall. “We advise any travelers in southern portion of the county to use caution, even on roads that are open,” Marshall said. “Except for the Town of Lindley’s emergency status and remaining roads closures, there are no other warnings, alerts or advisories in place.” The road closures are the result of a severe thunderstorm that tore through the southern areas of Steuben County around 8 p.m. Friday. Remaining road closures Saturday are:
 ➢ County Route 127 from Lunger Road to the Pennsylvania Border (Town of Woodhull).
➢ County Route 85 from Murray Road to the Pennsylvania Border (Town of Tuscarora).
➢ Herrington Road to CR 127 (Town of Woodhull).
➢ Town of Lindley (State of Emergency in effect)
• Stowell Road
• Engle Road
• Watson Creek
 • Morgan Creek
• Griswold Road
Local emergency officials reported limited access Friday night on more than a dozen roads in the region. The hardest hit areas in Steuben appeared to be Town of West Union, Town of Woodhull, Town of Tuscarora and the Town of Lindley. Lindley sustained severe damage to the town highway system. Marshall reported the extensive damage was contained to the outlying of the towns, with little damage reported in major populated areas. Residents affected by the flooding and in need of individual assistance are encouraged to contact the Finger Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross at (607) 654-6103.
