Potter County: Vietnam Vets Moving Wall Coming To CARP; Volunteers Needed
Representatives of local veterans service organizations have joined forces to bring The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., to Potter County. Plans call for the exhibit to be set up at Coudersport Area Recreation Park (CARP) from Thursday evening, Sept. 13, through mid-day Monday, Sept. 17. Moving Wall lists the names of the more than 58,000 Americans who were killed in the war. It will be on display 24/7 with guides available to help locate names and other educational exhibits on the grounds. A brief welcoming ceremony will be held at the courthouse square at 9:30 am Thursday. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 5 pm Thursday at CARP. The public is encouraged to attend, Volunteers are still needed to assist with security, frame construction, on-site assistance, removal of the wall base and many other responsibilities.
