Complete Obituary: Donald W. Mong, 70, Scio

SCIO - Donald W. Mong, 70, of 2754 County Road 9, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at home. He was born on June 9, 1948 in Wellsville the son of Jay D. and Mabel S. (Wheaton) Mong. On July 3, 1971 in Salamanca he married Judith Kielaszek who survives.

Don was a 1966 graduate of Wellsville High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He began his career with Worthington Corporation in Wellsville, and for 38 years he was employed by Alstom Air Preheater Company in Wellsville, retiring in 2010. He was a former member of the Scio Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Ducks Unlimited, and Genesis Bible Church in Scio.  

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Theron (Jennifer) Mong of Williamsville, a daughter, Adrianne (Jeff) Donaldson of Plano, TX, three grandchildren, Helena and Gavin Mong, and Savannah Donaldson, his mother, Mabel Mong of Wellsville, a brother, Robert (Nancy) Mong of Epping, NH, a sister, Brenda Szabo of Wellsville, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be on Wednesday, October 24, at 11:00 a.m. at the Genesis Bible Church in Scio. Please consider memorial donations to the Jones Memorial Hospital Memorial Fund, Genesis Bible Church, Allegany County Office for the Aging, or any charity of the donor's choice.
