Village of Wellsville election: 'old' versus 'new'

Voters in the village of Wellsville in November will select between a former and a current member to serve as a Trustee. Republican and former police officer Jeff Monroe is about to complete his first term on the village board. In about a month, however, he'll face a challenge from a former trustee. Mike Roeske is running on the "Roeske for Trustee" party line. In January, when there were openings at the town level, Roeske sought that council seat. Before that vacancy was filled, Roeske addressed the town board and said "I'd like to be appointed...please consider me for an appointment." Supervisor Alsworth, who endorsed Dar Fanton for the job, suggested that Roeske and others who are interested to run in November. Roeske heeded that advice, except opting for the village seat.
