Wellsville: Potential serious injury in Andover Road crash

At least one person sustained a potential serious injury Monday morning when a tractor trailer collided head-on with a pickup truck on Andover Road/State Route 417E, near Northern Lights Candles in Wellsville. First responders said the big rig was headed into the village when it collided with a pickup truck traveling westbound. The driver of the pickup was temporarily trapped. That driver, a male, sustained what Wellsville EMS officials described as "potentially serious" injuries. He was immediately transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The driver of the rig was evaluated by EMS at the scene. State Route 417 was closed briefly while rescuers were at the scene. State police are in charge and the investigation continues.
