Obituary: Otto Goodwin, 89, Arkport

ARKPORT- Surrounded by family Otto Goodwin passed away on December 20, 2018 at age 89 years. Survived by his wife of 71 years Jackie Goodwin, children Barb Helling (Bob), Bev Roberts (Jim), Bill Goodwin (Bonnie) and Deb Goodwin (Mary D’Angelo); 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his grandson Jason Jacobs.
Otto was a lifelong resident and businessman of the Arkport area. From 1948 until 2016 he was an auto dealer. He also owned/operated Goodwin Trucking until 1965. He purchased a farm on Rt36, Arkport and had an engineer design a mobile home park. He built the family business Midway Sales to include the park and a sales lot for mobile and modular homes. After many years in business, he had an attractive offer and sold.
Otto is a member of the Arkport Presbyterian Church, and a past member of the Hornell Motorcycle Club, Hornell Moose Club, the Arkport Rotary and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was a NASCAR driver at Monroe County and Canandaigua from 1952-53. And he raced at Bath, Hornell, Angelica, Wellsville and Cuba Raceways thru 1959. After his race car driving career ended, he was an avid NASCAR fan and held Daytona tickets for 44 years. He enjoyed many years of traveling and camping with his family.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday Dec. 27, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Hornell. Funeral Services will be held at the Arkport Presbyterian Church on Friday Dec. 28, 2018 at 11a.m. with Rev. Bruce Incze officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
