Preliminary hearing set for Whitesville man charged with attempted murder in Pennsylvania
Anthonie Sugden, 22, of Whitesville was transferred from the Potter County Jail to a Crawford County courtroom where was arraigned Monday at 3:45 p.m. on an attempted murder charge. Sugden was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Samuel V. Pendolino. The judge denied bail and ordered Sugden held at the Crawford County Jail. Judge Pendolino refused bail noting in the court record that Sugden was "homeless, a flight risk, a danger to the public with no ties to the area and has multiple outstanding warrants."A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for December 24 at 9 a.m.
Sugden has been charged by Meadville city police with:
- Attempted criminal homicide
- Robbery-inflicting serious bodily injury
- Conspiracy to commit robbery
- Aggravated assault
- Simple assault
- Theft by unlawful taking
- Conspiracy to commit theft
- Receiving stolen property.
According to Meadville police, Sugden allegedly shot and gravely wounded William Bascom III at his Lincoln Avenue home last Thursday.
Sugden was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police in Potter County.
