Wellsville Fire Company welcomes public to inspect new engine
The engine was manufactured by Pierce in Appleton, Wisconsin. The final touches are being added this week by Churchville Fire Equipment Corp. Fire Company members will train on the new apparatus on Saturday. The volunteer truck committee traveled to Wisconsin recently to make the final inspection on the engine, which sports an Enforcer chassis, a Cummins L9 engine with a Hale Midship pump that delivers 1500 gallons of water per minute.
Former fire chief Chris Perkins noted that the when the engine arrives in Wellsville, it will look slightly different than the one shown on this site. Churchville is adding a deck gun and the photo doesn't show the hose. One thing you won't see are ladders, which have been tucked away in interior compartments.
The Wellsville Fire Company represents changing times in local volunteer service. Last year, the Genesee Hose Company and the McEwen Hose Company voted to merge and form the new entity.
