The town of Alma has been embroiled in political turmoil and threats of lawsuits over highway matters for the last several months, but some of those issues may be resolved in the voting booth. The Allegany County Board of Elections says that the deadline to register to vote in the June 25th primary is…tomorrow (May 31st). The Board tells us there are 467 registered voters in Alma and the race for the town board is hopping. There are two open seats for the November election. There are three Democrats running for office and four Republicans in the primary race. There are other races…in Amity there is a Republican primary for town justice and highway superintendent while the village of Angelica has a Republican primary for two seats on the village board. More broadly, there is also a Republican primary countywide to fill the seat of Senator Cathy Young, who recently resigned.
