GENESEO, NY - The perioperative nursing team at UR Medicine | Noyes Health’s Ambulatory Surgery Center in Geneseo took an official “time out” on Wednesday, June 12, as part of a national initiative to increase patient safety in the operating room. The staff marked the Association for periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) “National Time Out Day” with cake and, more importantly, with a recommitment to a culture of safety.
“We work hard every day to take care of our patients as best we can,” says Jessica Porter, RN, nurse manager at Noyes’ Ambulatory Surgery Center, “Celebrating “Time Out Day” is just a way of reminding us to take a “time out” before each surgery to prevent wrong-site, wrong-procedure or wrong-patient surgeries.”
UR Medicine | Noyes Health’s Ambulatory Surgery Center at 50 E. South Street in Geneseo is a convenient location for patients of Noyes’ orthopedic and general surgeons, as well as for patients of UR Medicine and private practice specialists in the region. Patients can choose to have the following procedures at this location: arthroscopic procedures (e.g. knee exams or repairs); biopsies; ear, nose and throat surgery (e.g. tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy), eye surgery, foot or hand surgery, OB/GYN or urogenital procedures, upper or lower endoscopies, and other routine procedures.
