On September 15, 2019 Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Operation Safe Interstate initiative when he stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kyle C. Vaughn, age 27 from Little Genesee, NY, and a passenger was identified as Wade D. Wilkinson, age 23 from Bolivar, NY. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that the vehicle occupants were involved in drug activity and conducted a roadside drug investigation.

It is also alleged that Vaughn attempted to hide some of the drugs during the investigation in an attempt to prevent the drugs from being found.
Wilkinson also allegedly gave the Deputy Sheriff a false name during the investigation as he had an active warrant for robbery out of the Village of Bolivar.
Vaughn and Wilkinson were arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (B Felony-intent to sell heroin/crack cocaine), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree (heroin weight), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree (crack cocaine weight), and two
counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (meth and
hydrocodone).
In addition, Vaughn was also charged with felony Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Wilkinson was also charged with False Personation.
Both Vaughn and Wilkinson were turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston
County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was
contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that both be
held on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
Vaughn and Wilkinson were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment
Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of York Justice Thomas Porter. The
Judge did remand Vaughn to the custody of the Sheriff on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Wilkinson was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.
Deputy Matt Thomas and Deputy Chad Eaton assisted with the roadside investigation.
