Wellsville: Village Board debates fire department appropriations

The Wellsville Village Board went back and forth Monday night on the topic of fire department appropriations. Trustee Ed Fahs suggested that the village dole out the funding to departments equally. That prompted an immediate response from Trustee Mike Roeske, who said..."so you're overriding fire board...again." Roeske added that "I think they (fire department) need to handle their own finances." He added the Department is waiting for an audit.

Fire Chief Barney Dillie

Fire Chief Michael "Barney" Dillie said "I'm not here to argue...I'm here to give you information so you can make an informed decision. After further discussion, the Board took no immediate action. Fahs also told his colleagues that the village is beginning to have productive discussions with the town regarding fire protection.
