Wellsville man dies after car strikes Martin Street Medical Center

A Wellsville man has died after the vehicle he was driving struck the Martin Street Medical Center at 12 Martin Street. Police Chief Tim O'Grady said it happened at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when the driver was westbound on Martin Street and apparently suffered a medical emergency. His vehicle went off the road and struck the Medical Center building, shattering windows. No one inside the building was hurt. Medical Staff from inside the building raced outside to initiate care. O'Grady said the man was rushed to Jones Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed. Police said the man appears to have died from the initial medical event. O'Grady said the victim was a Wellsville man in his 70's, but his name won't be released until all family notifications are made.
