On the unexpected passing of our friend Bill Heaney: “His family unexpectedly lost a great man Friday. The community of Belfast and the Hall of Fame lost a great supporter. The State’s Republican Party lost a very important man. Bill was a previous caretaker of the Muldoon Training Barns, and one of our first-ever Honorary Inductees, pictured here receiving that award 12 years ago the same day we also honored Baby Joe Mesi. Bill was very proud of that day. Over 300 people were in attendance, including Bill’s entire family. For me personally he was one of my awesome high school teachers who always set an excellent example for us to follow. Bill was my English teacher, his wonderful wife Eva my Science teacher. God bless Bill and his lovely family in this especially difficult time for them. They are in everyone’s prayers, especially those of the boxing community, a sport whose history and involvement in he was very passionate about.
