Cuba Police officer assists with CPR save, awarded Life Saving Medal

On February 13th, 2020, while going through the motions of a normal Thursday morning, Officer Timothy Emley found himself in an emergency situation in which an individual collapsed face down in the lobby of a school building. Officer Emley along with a nurse and another first responder acted quickly and began CPR. Officer Emley continued CPR until an AED arrived. Officer Emley continued chest compressions while the AED was being prepped. Utilizing teamwork, they were able to revive the person and have them transported to the hospital where they were treated and eventually released. Because of Officer Emley’s quick action and decision making along with assistance from other first responders, this individual is alive today. Recently, the Cuba Police Department awarded Officer Emley with the Life Saving Medal and commendation during a private ceremony. It is because of Officer Emley’s heroic actions that another person’s life was saved.

Patrolman Emley has been serving with the Cuba Police Department part-time since he graduated from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy in 2001. Officer Emily has an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Jamestown Community College in Olean and obtained his New York State teaching Certificate from Buffalo State College in 2004. Officer Emily is currently the director of the criminal justice program at the Cattaraugus- Allegany Boces Center in Ellicottville, New York.

In 2004 he ran for the Mayor's position in Portville and won. After serving two terms he moved out of the Village and into the Town where he ran for and won the position of Town Supervisor.

He has coached football, wrestling and soccer and is married with two children, Olivia and Hayden.
