Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on March 31, 2020, deputies of the Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles F. Wead, age 51, of State Route 226, Savona, New York. Deputies responded to a vehicle repair establishment on State Route 54, Bath, New York for a report of a person unlawfully entering a building and stealing property from that building. It is alleged that Mr. Wead entered and remained unlawfully in a building with the intent to steal cans and bottles collected to help fund the Finger Lakes SPCA. Mr. Wead was charged with Burglary in the Third Degree and Petit Larceny. Mr. Wead is awaiting arraignment in the Centralized Arraignment Court.
