ALLEGANY, CAYUGA, CHEMUNG, LIVINGSTON, MONROE, ONTARIO, SCHUYLER, SENECA, STEUBEN, TIOGA, TOMPKINS, WAYNE, YATES COUNTIES, NY – The Embrace Your Sisters’ (EYS) annual Positively Pink in Pittsford Walk fundraiser scheduled for September 27 has been canceled for this year. This would have been the 10th annual event.EYS Vice President Megan Freida expressed, “We are saddened to announce our second 2020 event cancellation due to COVID-19. We would like to thank our participants and the businesses who support us every year: Wegmans, Dolce Panepinto Attorneys, Fuller Funeral Home, Mostly Clay, Amiel's Subs, Stop 28 Farm and Nursery, Aladdin’s Eatery, and a variety of small businesses throughout Pittsford.
Our fundraising efforts from the fashion show ‘Tea At Two’ and ‘Positively Pink Walk’ bring in a majority of the annual donations to the organization and assist many individuals and families struggling financially, due to breast cancer. Please consider Embrace Your Sisters if you are looking for ways to give back to the community at this time.”
EYS provides emergency financial support for people with breast cancer. Their service area has expanded to include 13 counties around the Finger Lakes: Allegany, Cayuga, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates counties. They serve these communities with a 100% volunteer staff.
The funds raised by Embrace Your Sisters are used in a variety of ways for breast cancer patients including: utility bills, rent/mortgage, property taxes, transportation to and from treatment, hearing aids, car/insurance payment, medical bills, Lymphedema sleeve, and more.
During 2020, the federal government has provided an opportunity for each taxpayer to donate $300.00 to non-profits and get the money back through a tax deduction, in addition to the standard deduction.
